United Way and *YOU* Can Transform a School

April 5, 2012

Volunteers show off their team spirit at a school makeover event in 2011.

National Volunteer Week is almost here, and Inland Empire United Way is inviting you to take part! Each year during NVW, citizens from across the nation join together to celebrate the great work that volunteers accomplish in communities just like ours.

This year, to show off the awesome work that volunteers in our local communities do, Inland Empire United Way is coordinating a huge-scale elementary school makeover! On Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th, over 400 volunteers will gather at Kingsley Elementary School in Pomona to help paint murals, plant gardens, upgrade sports equipment, and more! The more people who volunteer, the more we can help this deserving school. We’d love if you came out to join us!

The 2011 event success would never have happened without dozens of volunteers who helped prep the murals and gardens.

Volunteers are especially needed for the April 13th prep day, during which dozens of volunteers will distribute supplies, prepare several rooms for painting, prepare the garden areas for planting, and help sketch out murals. This day plays a crucial role in the overall weekend’s success, so volunteer assistance on this day is absolutely vital. Sign up to volunteer today!
