IEUW and HandsOn Inland Empire Celebrate AmeriCorps Week!!

March 12, 2012

Each year, hundreds of individuals across the nation make the incredible decision to dedicate a year to improving low-income communities through AmeriCorps! Whether improving local education, health, disaster preparedness, or a wide variety of other worthwhile topics, each AmeriCorps member uses their time with the organization to leave a lasting mark on a local community. Each year, to highlight the work these valuable volunteers do in communities across the U.S., the Corporation for National and Community Service sponsors AmeriCorps Week—a nine-day period in which AmeriCorps members and affiliates spread the word about the extraordinary impact AmeriCorps makes across the nation!

This year, Inland Empire United Way and HandsOn Inland Empire are celebrating AmeriCorps Week (March 10th through March 18th) by publishing a series of blog articles exploring the work AmeriCorps members do in the I.E. community. From Redlands to Pomona and beyond, AmeriCorps is leaving a lasting legacy of good across the Inland Valley. Each day this week, Inland Empire United Way will celebrate that work by highlighting the efforts of a different AmeriCorps member in the local community.

Make sure to check out the website each day this week for a glimpse of the invaluable work AmeriCorps VIP members are doing in local cities throughout the I.E. and to discover, in a number of different ways, how AmeriCorps Works!
